A template is a professionally-built postcard layout in Mailr’s catalog. You pick the one closest to what you want, and Mailr rebuilds it in your brand — your logo, colors, contact details, and copy. You never mail a template as-is; it’s the starting point for a design of your own. Find the gallery at Designs → Templates. The header reads STARTING POINT · Choose a template — “Pick the closest structure. You can change every visual decision later.”

What you’re looking at

Each template shows its front, flips to the back when you hover, and carries a meta line reading Front + back · 6 × 9 in, or Classic front · 6 × 9 in for fixed-front templates. The hint under the gallery says Hover to flip · Click to select. Templates come in the same two postcard types you’ll see everywhere in Mailr:
  • Home Render — the front is personalized, so each recipient’s card shows their own home re-rendered in the style you choose.
  • Classic — the front is fixed, so every recipient gets the same front. It’s still built with your logo, colors, and contact details.
Use the type filter — All types · Home Render · Classic — to narrow the gallery to one kind. Full explanation of the difference: Designs overview. The industries you set in your brand kit drive which templates Mailr puts in front of you. Templates matching your industries carry a quiet Recommended badge and float to the top of the gallery. Nothing is hidden by default. Recommendations change the order, not the catalog — every template can be adapted to your brand, and you’re free to pick one built for a different trade. The results line above the gallery tells you exactly what you’re seeing: Showing X of Y templates, plus a qualifier — All industries, Filtered for your industries, Filtered by search, or Home Render only — and, when it applies, N recommended for [your industry] shown first.

Search and filters

  • Search templates — a search box that matches template names.
  • INDUSTRY — a dropdown of checkboxes with its own Filter industries search, plus Clear and Apply filters. Industries you select appear as removable chips above the gallery with a Clear all link.
  • Type — All types · Home Render · Classic.
Filtered yourself into an empty gallery? You’ll see Nothing matches that filter — “Try clearing the filter — every template can be adapted to your brand.” Clear the industry chips or the search box and the full catalog comes back.
Pick for structure, not for finish. The photo, headline, and colors on a template preview are placeholders — what matters is where the image sits, how much room the copy gets, and how busy the layout is. You direct the look in words at the next step.

Choosing one

Click a template to select it. The card shows ✓ Selected and a Create design → button, and a sticky bar at the bottom of the page mirrors it — reading TEMPLATE SELECTED, or Select a template to continue until you’ve picked one. Pressing Create design → takes you into the Direction step, where you shape the copy and look of your card. The full walkthrough is on Create a design.
You need a brand kit with a logo before you can generate. If you haven’t set one up you’ll hit “Set up your brand kit before creating a design” or “Your brand kit needs a logo before generating.” Start at Brand kit.
