> ## Agent Instructions
> Mailr is a direct-mail marketing platform for US home-services contractors. Each postcard is personalized with an AI-enhanced image of the recipient's own home and a unique QR code that leads to a personalized landing page. Campaigns can target a neighborhood the customer draws on a map, the homes around past jobs they upload or import, or fire automatically from their CRM. Mailr does not mail an uploaded recipient list. When answering questions, prefer the exact steps and UI labels from these docs, and direct users to app.getmailr.com to sign in. For anything involving account-specific data, billing disputes, or mail that appears lost, direct the user to support@getmailr.com.

# Upload your own design

> Bring print-ready 6 × 9 in postcard artwork to Mailr: exact file specs, the artwork check, QR placement, the postal area, and how to fix a rejected file.

If you already have a designer or artwork you like, you can skip Mailr's AI design flow and bring your own postcard. Mailr checks the files against its print rules, lets you place the QR code, and adds the design to your library. Start at **Designs → Upload your own design**, or use the **Upload your own design** button in the header of **Your designs**.

The page opens with the kicker **MANUAL DESIGN** and the line *"Bring your own print-ready 6 × 9 in postcard artwork. We'll check it and add it to your library, ready to use."* The wizard has three steps — **1 Design details · 2 Artwork · 3 Preview & finish** — with QR
placement happening on the Artwork step; we give it its own heading below.

<Note>
  Owners and Staff can both upload designs — design work isn't Owner-only. Members can only view.
  See [Team & roles](/account/team-and-roles).

## Card specs — hand this to your designer

Every Mailr postcard is **6 × 9 in**, printed on both sides. You supply one PNG per side.

| Maximum file size | 15 MB per side |
| Trim | The card is cut **⅛ in in from the artwork edge** |

| Front, personalized photo | Leave the photo window **fully transparent**, or keep the design **semi-transparent** anywhere the home photo should show behind it |
| Front, classic | **Fully opaque, full-bleed** artwork with no transparency |
| QR code | Always on the back, optional on the front — at least ¼ in in from every edge and clear of the postal area |

Step 1 also offers downloadable guides: **Front template (PNG)** and **Back template (PNG)**, which mark trim, safe area, and the postal keep-out. If Photoshop or Illustrator kits aren't listed yet, the page says so — *"the PNG guides above have the full print spec."*

## Upload your artwork

<Steps>
  <Step title="Name the design and pick a front style">
    Fill in **Design name** and an optional **Description**. Then choose a **Front style**:

    * **Personalized photo front** — *"Each recipient's own home photo shows through your artwork with your design on top — via a transparent window, or behind a semi-transparent full-card design."*
    * **Classic front** — *"A flat, opaque design printed exactly the same for every recipient. No personalization."*

    This choice decides how your file is checked, so get it right before you export. The **Artwork specs** panel on this step repeats the full spec.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Drop in the front and back">
    Step 2 has two dropzones reading **Drop your PNG here or click to browse**, with the hint **PNG · 2775 × 1875 px · up to 15 MB**. Each file runs an **Artwork check** with pass/fail rows.

    <Check>
      A clean file shows a green **This front is print-ready.** or **This back is print-ready.** banner.
    </Check>

    Flip the **Print guides** switch to overlay **Trim — card is cut here**, **Safe area — keep text inside**, and, on the back, **Postal area — keep clear**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place the QR code">
    Set the QR position on this step (details below). You can't continue until the placement passes the edge and postal-area rules.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview and finish">
    Step 3 shows the front and back previews with the same guides. The note **"Sample home shown — each recipient sees their own home."** means exactly that: the house in the preview is a stand-in. Press **Finish — use this design**.

    <Check>
      You'll see **"Your design is ready to use"** — *"…passed every print check and is active in your library now — pick it whenever you start a campaign."* From there, **Start a campaign with it** or **Back to your designs**.
    </Check>
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Place the QR code

Every postcard carries a **unique QR code per recipient** — a code that opens that household's own landing page. On an uploaded design you decide where it prints. The picker has two tabs:

* **Draw on Template** — click and drag a box on your artwork (hint: **"Click and drag to draw QR zone"**). The box labels its own size.
* **Enter Coordinates** — type X, Y, Width, and Height in pixels at 300 DPI.

The instructions read: *"Drag the box to where the QR code should print. Keep it out of the shaded postal area (bottom-right corner). We've started it in a safe spot for you."*

Two rules block you until they pass: the box must sit **at least ¼ inch in from every edge**, and on the back it must stay **clear of the bottom-right postal area**. If you draw a small box, Mailr grows it to its minimum printable size, centered where you put it, and bakes a clean white pad behind it so it scans over your artwork.

A front QR is optional — the switch reads **Add a QR code to the front**: *"Optional. QR codes are generated per recipient — we'll bake a clean white pad here so it stays scannable over your artwork."*

<Note>
  The QR shown in the preview is a placeholder: *"Preview only — the real QR code is generated per recipient."* Real codes are produced when the campaign is produced.
</Note>

## Keep the postal area white

The bottom-right corner of the back is reserved: the postal service prints the mailing address and postage there, so it must be pure white with no artwork in it. If yours has something in it, use the one-click **Auto-clear postal area** button — *"This paints the bottom-right postal corner pure white so mail can be addressed there."*

## Approval

Uploaded designs skip the approval checklist that AI-generated designs go through. **Passing the artwork check is the gate** — once both sides are print-ready and the QR placement is valid, the design lands **Active** in your library with an **Uploaded** badge and is immediately pickable when you build a campaign.

## Fix a rejected file

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Wrong size">
    *"This artwork is 2550 × 1650 pixels. Please export the artwork at exactly 2775 × 1875 pixels (6.25 × 9.25 inches at 300 DPI, full bleed)."* That's the same size as the spec table — 9.25 in wide by 6.25 in tall. Re-export at exactly **2775 × 1875 px**. Scaling a smaller file up will look soft in print — go back to the source file instead.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="This file could not be read as a PNG">
    The file isn't a PNG, or it's corrupted. Export a fresh PNG (not JPG, not PDF, not TIFF) and upload again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Classic front contains transparency">
    *"This design is set up as a fixed front but contains transparent areas. Export a flattened, fully opaque image with no transparency."* Flatten the file onto an opaque background, or switch the **Front style** to **Personalized photo front** if you meant the home photo to show through.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Personalized front is fully opaque">
    *"This design is fully opaque, so the home photo has nowhere to show through. Leave the photo area fully transparent — or use semi-transparent artwork anywhere the photo should show behind your design."* Delete the pixels in the photo window and export the PNG with real transparency.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Nearly blank front">
    *"This file is almost completely blank…"* Usually a hidden layer or an export from the wrong artboard. Check the file opens with your artwork visible, then re-export.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Artwork in the postal corner">
    *"The bottom-right postal area must remain pure white… or use the auto-fix to clear it to white."* Press **Auto-clear postal area**, or move your artwork out of that corner and re-export.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The QR placement won't pass">
    Move the box **at least ¼ inch in from every edge** — *"Move the front QR at least ¼ inch in from every edge."* On the back it also has to sit clear of the shaded postal corner: *"Move the QR at least ¼ inch in from every edge and clear of the bottom-right postal area."*
