> ## Agent Instructions
> Mailr is a direct-mail marketing platform for US home-services contractors. Each postcard is personalized with an AI-enhanced image of the recipient's own home and a unique QR code that leads to a personalized landing page. Campaigns can target a neighborhood the customer draws on a map, the homes around past jobs they upload or import, or fire automatically from their CRM. Mailr does not mail an uploaded recipient list. When answering questions, prefer the exact steps and UI labels from these docs, and direct users to app.getmailr.com to sign in. For anything involving account-specific data, billing disputes, or mail that appears lost, direct the user to support@getmailr.com.

# QR codes on your postcards

> Every Mailr postcard carries a unique QR code that opens that recipient's personalized landing page and records the scan. Here's where it goes and how it's placed.

Every postcard Mailr mails carries its **own QR code** — one per recipient, not one per campaign. Scanning it opens the landing page you chose for that campaign and records the scan against that exact household, which is how you know which card produced which lead.

## What happens when someone scans

The homeowner points their phone at the code and lands on their [personalized landing page](/results/landing-pages) — the page you picked in the campaign wizard, built for that address. The scan shows up in your [Tracking dashboard](/results/dashboard), tied to the household it was mailed to.

You choose the destination when you build the campaign, under **QR code landing page**: *"Each postcard gets a unique QR code. Choose the page homeowners see when they scan it."*

## Where the QR code goes

* **Back — always.** Every design carries a QR code on the back. Its position is fixed per design.
* **Front — optional.** On an uploaded design this is a switch: **Add a QR code to the front** — *"Optional. QR codes are generated per recipient — we'll bake a clean white pad here so it stays scannable over your artwork."*

Two placement rules apply wherever it sits: the code must be **at least ¼ inch in from every edge**, and on the back it must stay **clear of the bottom-right postal area**, where the mailing address and postage print.

## Who places it

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="AI-generated designs">
    The QR position is designed into the card for you and measured automatically when you approve it. There's nothing to place.

    If the spot can't be read cleanly, approval is blocked with an actionable message: *"The back has no usable QR placement… Regenerate or edit the back, then approve."* Run one more edit on the back — asking for a clear, uncluttered area away from the edges and the bottom-right corner — or use **↺ Generate again**, then approve.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Uploaded designs">
    You place the box yourself in the [upload wizard](/designs/upload-your-own), on the artwork step. Two tabs:

    * **Draw on Template** — click and drag a box on your artwork (**"Click and drag to draw QR zone"**); the box labels its own size.
    * **Enter Coordinates** — type X, Y, Width, and Height in pixels at 300 DPI.

    The instructions read: *"Drag the box to where the QR code should print. Keep it out of the shaded postal area (bottom-right corner). We've started it in a safe spot for you."* You can't continue until it clears every edge by ¼ inch and, on the back, clears the postal area.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Tip>
  Draw the box roughly where you want the code and don't worry about making it big enough. Mailr guarantees a minimum printed size for scannability — a small box is grown to that floor, centered on where you put it, and a clean white pad is baked behind it so it stays readable over your artwork.
</Tip>

## The QR in a preview is a placeholder

Any QR code you see on a template preview, a library card, a proof, or the upload wizard preview is a stand-in, not a working code. The interface says so: *"Preview only — the real QR code is generated per recipient."* The approval proof repeats it: *"QR codes are inserted automatically when this mails."*

Real codes are produced when the campaign is produced — one per recipient, each pointing at that household's own landing page.

## Errors you might hit

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Move the QR at least ¼ inch in from every edge">
    Your box is too close to the edge of the card, where it risks being cut off at trim. Drag it inward, or nudge the X/Y values on the **Enter Coordinates** tab.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Move the QR clear of the bottom-right postal area">
    The full message reads *"Move the QR at least ¼ inch in from every edge and clear of the bottom-right postal area."* That corner is reserved for the mailing address and postage. Move the code left or up, out of the shaded zone.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The back has no usable QR placement">
    An AI-generated design didn't leave a readable spot for the code, so approval is blocked. Edit the back and ask for a clear area away from the edges and the bottom-right corner, or press **↺ Generate again**, then approve the new version.
