> ## Agent Instructions
> Mailr is a direct-mail marketing platform for US home-services contractors. Each postcard is personalized with an AI-enhanced image of the recipient's own home and a unique QR code that leads to a personalized landing page. Campaigns can target a neighborhood the customer draws on a map, the homes around past jobs they upload or import, or fire automatically from their CRM. Mailr does not mail an uploaded recipient list. When answering questions, prefer the exact steps and UI labels from these docs, and direct users to app.getmailr.com to sign in. For anything involving account-specific data, billing disputes, or mail that appears lost, direct the user to support@getmailr.com.

# Campaigns overview

> A campaign is one batch of personalized postcards. Learn Mailr's campaign types, where campaigns live, and how credits are held, charged, and refunded.

A **campaign** is one batch of postcards: who gets mailed, which postcard design they get, and which
landing page their QR code opens. This page covers the kinds of campaigns you can run, where to find
them in Mailr, and how money moves from your credit balance to the mailbox.

## What a campaign is

Each household on a campaign is a **recipient**, and each recipient gets their own postcard — their
home on the front, their mailing address, and a QR code printed just for them. Cards are 6 × 9 in either way you build
them. Mailr mails within the United States only.

You choose the audience once, and Mailr handles the rest: finding the addresses, generating the
cards, and handing the batch to our print partner.

## Campaign types

You pick the type on the first step of the campaign wizard.

| Type                          | What it does                                                                                                               |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Neighborhood Targeting** | "Draw areas on a map, apply property filters, and mail nearby homeowners." |
| **Neighborhood Reactivation** | "Upload past job addresses and mail their neighbors." |
| **Your list** | "Mail the exact addresses you upload from a CSV or pull from your CRM, with optional customer names on the address block." |
| **Free preview run** | "See real cards for real homes before you spend anything. Nothing gets mailed." |

**Neighborhood Targeting** is the map builder. You outline neighborhoods, drop radius circles, and
narrow the homes down with property filters like home value and year built.

**Neighborhood Reactivation** works from your job history. You upload a CSV of past job addresses or
import them from your CRM, and Mailr mails the neighbors around each one. The job addresses
themselves are never mailed — they're excluded, and they're added to your suppression list as
customers when you submit.

**Your list** mails the addresses you supply, instead of finding neighbors around them. Upload a CSV or
pull contacts from any connected CRM, then review the list and remove any rows you don't want. Where a
customer name comes through, it can be printed on the address block instead of "Current Resident".

**Free preview run** is a trial run. It renders real cards for real homes near an address you choose
so you can see what lands in a mailbox, and it mails nothing. Each card uses one free render, up to
10 cards per run. The tile only appears while your workspace still has free preview renders and
hasn't funded mailing credits yet.

<Note>
  Campaigns can also be created for you automatically. An **automation** is a rule that starts a
  neighbor mailing from CRM activity, such as a won deal or a completed job. See
  [Automations](/campaigns/automations).
</Note>

## Where campaigns live

In the left-hand navigation, under **Campaigns**:

* **New campaign** — the four-step wizard: **Type · Targeting · Settings · Review**.
* **Campaigns** — the list of everything you've built, with a status pill on each one.

Also under **Campaigns**: **Automations**, **Designs**, and **Landing pages**.

In the list, extra pills tell you what kind of campaign a row is: **Preview** for a free preview run,
**Drop N of M** for one mailing in a follow-up series, **Automated** for a campaign an automation
created, and a scheduled date (for example "Scheduled · Sep 18") for a drop waiting for its mail
date. Every status word is explained in
[Campaign statuses and timelines](/campaigns/statuses-and-timelines).

## How you pay for a campaign

**Credits** are your prepaid mailing balance. A campaign spends them in three moves:

1. **At Submit, credits are held — not charged.** The full estimated cost is set aside so it can't be
   spent elsewhere, and the campaign goes to Mailr for review.
2. **At production, you're charged** for the cards that were actually produced.
3. **Anything that couldn't be produced is refunded** back to your balance.

If a campaign is a multi-drop follow-up series, **the whole series is charged up front** when the
campaign is created.

<Tip>
  If your balance is short, the campaign stays a **Draft** and the page tells you the shortfall with
  an **Add credits** button. Nothing is held and nothing is charged until you submit successfully.
</Tip>

Rates, balances, and invoices are covered in
[Credits and pricing](/billing/credits-and-pricing) and [Refunds](/billing/refunds).

## Ways to fill your audience

There are three ways to decide who gets a card, and you can mix them across campaigns:

* **Draw it on a map** — outline neighborhoods or drop a radius, then filter by property details.
* **Mail around your jobs** — upload past job addresses as a CSV, or import them from any connected
  CRM, and Mailr finds the neighbors.
* **Let your CRM trigger it** — a won deal or completed job starts a neighbor mailing on its own.

The first two live in the wizard: see [Choose your audience](/campaigns/targeting). The third is set
up once and runs by itself: see [Automations](/campaigns/automations).

Whichever route you use, Mailr always skips the addresses on your do-not-mail list. See
[Opt-outs and suppression](/campaigns/opt-outs-and-suppression).
