> ## Agent Instructions
> Mailr is a direct-mail marketing platform for US home-services contractors. Each postcard is personalized with an AI-enhanced image of the recipient's own home and a unique QR code that leads to a personalized landing page. Campaigns can target a neighborhood the customer draws on a map, the homes around past jobs they upload or import, or fire automatically from their CRM. Mailr does not mail an uploaded recipient list. When answering questions, prefer the exact steps and UI labels from these docs, and direct users to app.getmailr.com to sign in. For anything involving account-specific data, billing disputes, or mail that appears lost, direct the user to support@getmailr.com.

# Team & roles

> Invite teammates to your Mailr workspace, choose between the Owner, Staff, and Member roles, and switch between workspaces.

Everyone at your company works inside one shared **workspace**. This page explains how a workspace differs from your personal user account, what each of the three roles can do, and how to invite, remove, and switch between people and workspaces.

## Workspaces vs. user accounts

Your **user account** is you — your email address and password. A **workspace** is your company: campaigns, designs, credits, leads, and settings all belong to the workspace, and everyone you invite works inside it.

You sign in with your user account, then work inside your company's workspace. The app uses the words "workspace" and "organization" interchangeably — the picker screen says "organization," but they mean the same thing.

Most contractors will only ever have one workspace. Multiple workspaces are for agencies and multi-brand operators who have been added to more than one.

## The three roles

Each workspace has **one Owner**. Everyone else is Staff or Member.

| Role       | Who it's for                        | Can                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            | Cannot                                                                                                            |

### What a non-Owner actually sees

When someone hits an Owner-only action, Mailr tells them so in plain language:

* Billing: **"Only your organization's owner can purchase credits. Ask them to top up, or contact support."**
* Automations: **"Only the organization owner can create or edit automations and API keys. You can view existing automations here."**
* API keys: **"Only the organization owner can create or revoke API keys."**

<Note>
  Staff and Members can open **Settings → Account** and read every setting, but **Save** will not go through. If Save doesn't stick, ask your Owner — only Owners can change [workspace settings](/account/workspace-settings).
</Note>

To hand over ownership, invite or promote the person from **Manage organization** and change their role there.

## Invite a teammate

There is no separate Team page. Team management lives in the workspace switcher at the bottom-left of the sidebar.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click your workspace name">
    In the bottom-left corner of the sidebar, click your **workspace name**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Manage organization">
    Select **Manage organization** from the menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite by email on the Members or Invitations tab">
    Use the **Members** and **Invitations** tabs to send an invitation by email and set the person's role. The default role for a new invitee is **Member** unless you choose otherwise.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your teammate receives an email invitation. When they accept — creating an account first if they don't have one — they land directly in your workspace and never see the workspace setup step.

<Tip>
  If someone signs up before you invite them, they'll sit on the "Your account isn't part of an organization yet" screen until your invitation arrives. Send it and ask them to refresh.
</Tip>

## Remove someone

Click your **workspace name** → **Manage organization** → **Members**, then remove the person. Only Owners can remove teammates. Their campaigns, designs, and data stay in the workspace.

## "Your account isn't part of an organization yet"

This screen appears when you're signed in but not yet in any workspace. It reads: *"Mailr workspaces belong to organizations. If you have a pending invitation it will appear below — accept it to get started."*

* **If a pending invitation is listed**, accept it. You'll land in your company's workspace.
* **If nothing is listed**, contact your administrator and ask them to invite you to your company's organization.
* **If you're starting fresh**, choose **Create a new workspace** to go to the workspace setup step and become its Owner. See [Set up your workspace](/getting-started/set-up-your-workspace).

If you keep getting bounced back to this picker, it's the same cause: there's no workspace to show you yet.

## Switch between workspaces

Click your **workspace name** in the bottom-left of the sidebar, then **Switch workspace**, and pick another workspace from the picker. **Switch workspace** only appears when you belong to more than one.

You cannot create a new workspace from that menu. If you need a second one, ask an existing Owner to invite you to it.

## Your personal profile

Your own name, email, password, sign-in methods, and API keys are not on the workspace settings page. Click your **workspace name** in the bottom-left of the sidebar, then **Manage account**. **Sign out** is in the same menu.
